HE may be better known for his sexy looks and handyman skills on SABC3‘s Top Billing, but for talented Janez Vermeiren promoting and managing the country‘s top celebrities has become his newest venture.
In November last year Vermeiren and business partner Paul Coetzee opened a celebrity division within their modelling agency – Full Circle Model Management – in Cape Town, which first opened in late 2007.
Based in Cape Town, Vermeiren himself has had a successful career as a model.
He said the idea behind launching the celebrity division was to represent as much of South Africa‘s top talent “under one roof” as possible.
“We‘re aiming to become the exclusive representation of South Africa‘s top celebrities, including the teams from Top Billing, Pasella and Top Travel.
“We represent top talent for advertising, brand endorsements and MC work and our division has grown tremendously since we launched it.
“My aim is to build the brand of these celebrities and set up a database for various clients wanting to use the services of the celebrities signed to the agency,” he added.
Some of the celebrities with Eastern Cape links to be found on the modelling agency‘s books include 20Something host Kyle White, actor Ashley Taylor, radio DJ Derek Alberts and crooner Loyiso Bala.
White said it was great to be represented by Vermeiren.
“Janez is a great TV star and he knows what the needs of local celebrities are. With his connections in the industry, it can only help us all get more work to be involved in, and help promote the celebrity culture.”
Some of the other big names on the agency‘s books include soccer star Ryan Botha, actress and DJ Natalie Becker, Idols host Liezel van der Westhuizen, Survivor SA host Mark Bayly, singer Heinz Winckler and SABC3 continuity presenter Jason Greer.
Vermeiren said that some of his clients had landed high profile jobs and have benefited from being signed to the agency.
