Clubs bidding for top seven

Herald Correspondent

WITH new management structures in place, Park United and Rainbow Stars will make a renewed bid to finish in the top seven of the PSL Coastal Stream First Division when the season resumes tomorrow.

A place in the top seven will secure a berth in the restructured national PSL First Division at the end of the current season. Anything less will see both teams demoted to the Safa Vodacom Promotion League and end any hope that the city has of fielding a Premier League team in the foreseeable future

While Stars have appointed Sipho Sowazi as general manager and Mncedisi “Double M” Mvinjelwa as PRO to boost their chances, Park United have moved their camp to UPE and will be administered by the UPE-FCK management team.

In another development in the PSL First Division, Premier United have bought the Hellenic’s Premier League franchise.

The deal sees Hellenic’s name changing to Benoni United and Premier United now operating from Cape Town in the PSL First Division.

Rainbow Stars are home to Bush Bucks in an Eastern Cape derby at the Zwide Stadium tomorrow while Park United host Maritzburg City at the Adcock Stadium on Sunday.

Mdantsane-based Blackburn Rovers, who are the fourth Eastern Cape team in the league, face a tough away match against Vasco da Gama at the Parow Park Stadium in Cape Town.

The rest of the PSL First Division fixtures for the weekend are: Maritzburg City v Basotho Tigers; Avondale Athletico v Uthekela; FC Fortune v Premier United; Durban Stars v African Wanderers.
