Popular ‘70s and ‘80s music showcased

By Leon Muston

FANS of the music of the 1970s and ‘80s are in for a treat from the end of February when two DSN Productions run at the Opera House.

Legends of the ‘70s will run on February 25 and 26, March 2 and 3 and April 29, while Legends of the ‘80s will run on February 24, March 4 and March 12.

There will be a “combo” show, containing songs from both decades on March 11, while the show on March 5 has not yet been designated as a ‘70s or ‘80s show.

The shows will feature a six-pieceband comprising Howard Nock on guitar, Andrew Warneke on bass, Darryl Nel on keyboards, David van Wyk on drums and Niqui Cloete and Annaline Stiglingh on vocals.

Legends of the ‘70s features the music of the Bee Gees, Gloria Gaynor, Abba and Elton John, while Legends of the ‘80s includes songs from Wham, Madonna, Bon Jovi, Billy Joel and U2.

The Legends project was devised by DSN Productions as is a fundraising exercise for local beneficiaries. Sixteen Port Elizabeth schools are already participating, with charities getting an opportunity to take part later in the year.

There are great prizes to be won.

Music Mix vouchers, valued at R300 each, are also up for grabs for one lucky audience member per performance, and one of the 16 participating schools stands to win vouchers from Fogarty’s Bookshop worth R10 000.

Tickets are available from participating schools only. For information about where to purchase tickets contact Laura-Jane on 083 2707692.
